Channels are the foundation of Lane. They denote the different spaces that tenants of the building (companies, retailers, restaurants, services, organizations and more) utilize.
Much like a physical room, different areas of the channel (tabs and pages) can be used for specific purposes. You can control who can see, access and how they interact with the different areas of a channel.
All channels have a Parent Channel which is used to group related channels together. A company may have one or more office locations, which are grouped under a single parent. End users are generally members of the channel where they work, and may join other locations based on their needs.
Sub channels are used to create separate content creation areas. Admins can designate sub channel content creators based on topic, language, region and more. Content that is created in a sub channel can be targeted to one or more location channels as needed.
Building Channels are used to describe a parent channel with one or more property locations. A building channel generally includes one or more Tenant Channels.
Tenant Channels are used to describe the companies, businesses and organizations that are in and around the building. There are several categories of tenants, the main ones used are:
- Company: a business that rents or leases space in the building for their operations.
- Retailer: a business that sells goods to the general public, such as a shop.
- Restaurant: a business that sells food and beverage to the general public, such as a cafe or bistro.
- Service: a business that provides a service to the general public, such as a hairdresser or a gym.
As you can imagine, channels allow you to create a virtual blueprint of a building, it's owners, it's tenants and the eco system of businesses in and around it. You can create and control communication of information, processes, promotions, perks and more to the people who work or visit the building.
